When I was in high school, I co-founded the Industrial Design Club. We worked on a lot of projects, including Chrysler's "Design Your Dream Car" competition. But all that pales in comparison to what these kids from West Philly are doing!

Check out the video I produced for America.gov, and you'll quickly realize that these kids are tapping their creativity and passion to run energy-efficient circles around the competition... and, by competition, I mean GM, Ford, Chrysler... and pretty much everyone else.

Done with AU classes! This was my final project for Motion Graphics II. It was a pretty involved process - from storyboard, to shooting, editing, graphic design, animation... a hard drive crash... taking a few steps back... finishing! whew! But it was worth it.

Got lots of help from lululemon employees - especially the very strong and very patient Kristen Neishi - and shot the video at the lululemon studio in Georgetown.

Collaborated on graphics with Kiril Tchangov - kirilot.com

Scion Turns Five - Live Art Event

Scion celebrates its fifth year on the east coast with a live multimedia art event in Baltimore.

Another great event organized by the guys at X Culture and 88 DC. Also cool because it was my first production in my new favorite city, Baltimore (South Brooklyn)... and I just happen to drive a Scion tC myself. Sometimes worlds collide with pleasant results.

Oh! This was also the maiden voyage for my new toy: the pocket-sized Kodak Zi6. You can witness its power as the "DJ Booth Cam" and in the final shot from the hip: the BMore smokestack from the passenger seat of my car. That was all Kiril.

What a difference 40 years makes! In 1968, the intersection of 14th and U in DC was the epicenter of race riots following MLK's assassination. 40 years later, 14th and U was ground zero for celebration as people of every race came together to mark a historic event: The U.S. electing our first black president!

I was fortunate enough to be working that night... helping shoot this video for the U.S. Dept. of State/ America.gov. We hopped from bar to bar on U Street, interviewing a bunch of enthusiastic young people. And found ourselves in historic Ben's Chili Bowl when the results actually came in! Then it was out onto the streets for a night of partying. The common theme of the night was optimism as we all look toward reclaiming America's promise.

These two shorts profile DC-based artist, Billy Colbert, as he works on two series of work from an abandoned warehouse studio at 14th and T streets, NW in Washington, DC. He has since had to vacate the space so the building can be developed into luxury condos. But these two pieces help preserve the history of this unique building, while also examining the process behind the artwork of Billy Colbert.

The Sketches "Sleeper" Music Video

What did I do this summer? Among other things, I took a class on Music Video Production at AU. We worked with the amazing DC band The Sketches who commissioned us to make a video for their song "Sleeper".

My main contribution can be seen in the sunflower shots at the beginning and end (yup, those are my feet... and Kelly's lovely stems). I also animated of the growing flower. And I also shot the dolly shots of the band shedding their work clothes.

The video premiered at Jammin' Java on September 9. The band is touring up and down the east coast... and premiering three new videos along the way. Check out their myspace page for a schedule. I highly recommend checking them out!

Will Rogers Institute PSA

In my Production II class (Spring 2007), we were awarded the opportunity to produce a PSA on Teen Asthma for the Will Rogers Institute. I Wrote and Co-Directed the PSA. As Writer, I worked on the script and created the storyboards - as well as concept sketches. In Post-Production, I edited the piece, sound mixed, designed and animated the motion graphics.

Here is the animated version of the original storyboard.

This is the concept sketch of the Super-Villain, "Asthma Man"... and how he looked in real life.
